PageGate Failover Video Transcript:
Welcome to the Failover Configuration tutorial.
In this tutorial, we'll be going over how to
configure the different types of failover systems
in PageGate.
The first step is to run the PageGate Admin,
so go to your start menu, go to programs, find
the PageGate program group, and left click on
the PageGate Admin.
Before we begin, there are two different types
of failovers. There is a carrier level failover
and a recipient level failover.
The carrier level failover tells PageGate that
in the event that a carrier is unreachable via
one protocol, it should attempt to deliver the
messages through a secondary protocol or method.
The recipient level failover tells PageGate that
in the event that messages fail to a specific
recipient, those messages should instead be delivered
to another recipient.
To set the carrier level failover, left click
on the + next to the carriers section.
More often than not, you'll want to configure
the carrier level failover to go from SNPP or
WCTP to TAP. This means that you'll need an SNPP
or WCTP version of a carrier and a TAP version
of the carrier in the list.
For example, I've created a sample WCTP carrier
and a sample failover TAP Carrier.
To tell the program to use the Failover TAP Carrier
for my WCTP carrier, left click on the + next
to the original carrier's name and left click
on Advanced.
Here in the Advanced section, left click on the
dropdown arrow next to the Failover field.
In the list of carriers, select the carrier that
should be used in the event of a failure.
After setting your carrier, left click on Apply.
To set the recipient level failover, left click
on the + next to the Recipients section.
In my list, you'll see that I have Sales Cell
and Sales Pager.
If I want to have the Sales Pager set as the
failover for the Sales Cal recipient, left click
on the + next to the recipient's name, then left
click on Settings.
In the settings of the recipient, left click
on the dropdown arrow next to the failover field.
Select the recipient you want the failover messages
to go to, then left click on Apply.
This concludes the Failover Configuration tutorial.
