PageGate Synchronization Transcript for Video:
Welcome to the tutorial on how to Synchronize
multiple PageGate Servers.
In this tutorial, we'll be going over how to
configure a Master and Secondary Servers.
The first step is to run the PageGate Admin on
the Primary Server, so go to your start menu on
the Primary Server, go to Programs, find the PageGate
program group, and left click on PageGate Admin.
Once in the admin, left click on the + next to
the Database Section.
In the Database section, left click on the Synchronization
section.
Since this is the Primary Server, left click
on the Export section.
In the export section, you should see these options.
The first option is Enable Automatic Export.
If this is enabled, the primary server will export
the data that the secondary servers will then
import to synchronize their data.
The next option is Export interval. This is the
number of minute between synchronizations. By
default, this is 60 minutes but you can set it
as low as 1 minute, if you need to.
Below that, we have Export folder 1 through 8.
The Primary Server can export data to up to 8
different locations. Each of these locations should
be a UNC or network path that both the primary
and secondary servers have access to. This is
how they will share data back and forth.
Below that, you'll see these four checkboxes.
If Export carriers is checked, the primary server
will synchronize its carrier list with the secondary
servers.
If Export recipients is checked, the primary
server will synchronize its recipient list with
the secondary servers.
If Export groups is checked, the primary server
will synchronize its group list with the secondary
servers.
If Export security is checked, the primary server
will synchronize its security settings, including
the user list and configuration, with the secondary
servers.
After setting your export locations, preferences,
and enabling the Automatic Export, left click
on Apply.
Once you've configured the Primary server to
export the synchronization data, go to one of
the secondary servers.
In the secondary server, go to Start - Programs
- PageGate - PageGate Admin.
Once in the admin, left click on the + next to
the Database Section.
In the Database section, left click on the Synchronization
section.
Since this is a Secondary Server, left click
on the Import section.
In the import section, you should see these options.
The first option is Enable Automatic Import.
If this is enabled, the secondary server will
import the data that the primary server have exported
to synchronize its data with the primary server's.
The next option is Import interval. This is the
number of minute between synchronizations. By
default, this is 60 minutes but you can set it
as low as 1 minute, if you need to.
Next is Import Folder. This MUST match one of
the Export Folders that the Primary Server is
outputting its data to and should most likely
be the UNC or Network path to that folder.
Below that, you'll see these four checkboxes.
If Import carriers is checked, the secondary
server will synchronize its carrier list with
the primary server's.
Below that, you have the option to have the synchronization
data only add new data, only update existing data,
add new data and update existing data, or add
new data, update existing data, or remove data
no longer hosted in the primary server's database.
If Import recipients is checked, the secondary
server will synchronize its recipient list with
the primary server's.
Below that, you have the option to have the synchronization
data only add new data, only update existing data,
add new data and update existing data, or add
new data, update existing data, or remove data
no longer hosted in the primary server's database.
If Import groups is checked, the secondary server
will synchronize its group list with the primary
server's.
Below that, you have the option to have the synchronization
data only add new data, only update existing data,
add new data and update existing data, or add
new data, update existing data, or remove data
no longer hosted in the primary server's database.
If Import security is checked, the secondary
server will synchronize its security settings,
including the user list and configuration, with
the primary server's.
Below that, you have the option to have the synchronization
data only add new data, only update existing data,
add new data and update existing data, or add
new data, update existing data, or remove data
no longer hosted in the primary server's database.
After setting your import location, preferences,
and enabling the Automatic Import, left click
on Apply.
