Steps to Use Visiplex Transmitter with PageGate
You will need to configure the VNS paging transmitter to receive TAP by one of those methods, then configure that method in PageGate.
Step 1: Configure VNS as a delivery method
Run PG Admin.
Right click Carriers, select Add
Specify the following and click Apply:
Carrier: VNS
Protocol: TAP
Phone Number: Leave blank for serial/RS-232 or use the phone number of the terminal for dial-up.
Baud Rate: Mirror the terminal’s settings. Default: 1200
Parity: Mirror the terminal’s settings. Default: Even
Data Bits: Mirror the terminal’s settings. Default: 7
Stop Bits: Mirror the terminal’s settings. Default: 1
Init String: Type the word ‘direct’ for serial/RS-232 or set to (auto) for dial-up.
Max Chars: 240
Step 2: Configure whether this is serial/RS-232 or dial-up TAP
You will need to configure one of PageGate’s Connectors to use a modem or an RS-232/serial line to send messages through the transmitter. If you only own 1 Connector, you would do this in Connector 1.
Go to Connectors – Connector X – Settings
Set ‘Serial Port’ to match the RS-232 port or COM port of the modem being used.
If this is an RS-232/serial connection, check ‘Direct Connect’. If this is a dial-up connection, leave ‘Direct Connect’ unchecked.
Click Apply.
Step 3: Create Recipients tied to the VNS method of delivery
Right click Recipients, select Add.
Specify the following:
Full Name: The name of the recipient
Recipient: This field will automatically populate but can be edited and may ONLY contain alphanumeric characters, underscores and dashes.
Type: Normal
Carrier: VNS
Failover: See Failover Scenarios in the documentation
ID/PIN: The pager ID
Example: 1035 or 8290500 or 7818290500
Max Chars: Specify the number of characters you want the ability to send to this recipient. If this value is higher than the carrier's "Max Chars" value, PageGate will break up long messages in to multiple blocks.
Click Apply.
